Default Which Drivers to skip from MFG's Site?

If you go to the PC maker's site, ie HP, and go to the drivers page for you PC model, there are hundreds of drivers there. How can I know which to get, and which to avoid. Will anything conflict with my hardware? For example my ATI GFX Card drivers are installed from a cd that came with it, but here there are a few more drivers, will any conflict?

Thanks!
-Mel

I understand your confusion. I've been there! I cheated - I went on their forum and asked!

If the device is working fine i wouldn't bother to rush to update drivers necessarily but if theres a problem you can always uninstall them and revert to an older driver that works, but updating the bios cant be undone, and they can go wrong and there are bad bios versions, you wont do any damage updating drivers but updating bios isnt something you should do for the hell of it do it when theres a reason like improving system stability or to work with new hardware, do it in steps dont rush to install the newest or you could get stuck with a bad one until they bring out a newer version

Thanks Pop, I'll be more careful with Bois. Though, I can't help think that all this drivers have some use. Else, some programmers wasted a lot of time, and HP shouldn't offer downloads of em. I'll try to search the net for each one, will finish next year prolly. :P

all the drivers on hp website should work fine and having them all on the one site means you dont need to be going round diffent sites to update drivers

None of the keys are working. The CD key wont work, and the product ID key I cant use cause i'm not allowed to type the letters O, E, which are part of OEM. :/

I tried using google chrome portable to download Google Chrome and Firefox, but I'm getting a "Insufficient Permissions" error msg.

Peter do you think its something to do with the installer you gave me? Or Jelly Bean played games with me? :P

magic jellybean will be right its taking information direct from the computer, sounds to me like it hasnt activated when you installed, it should activate without putting a key in again, it could aso be a bad install or errors on hard drive, i would try reinstalling plug ethernet cable in reset the router then reinstall the os see what happens or partition the disc andcreate a partition about 15gb so os isnt being written to same segments of the disc and install on the portion thats left over
