Changing your Windows XP profile picture is just one of the many ways to customize your experience with the operating system. Open the “Start” menu and click on your profile picture in the top left corner. This will open a user window that allows you to pick from several avatars that come preloaded on your computer. Select any one of them and click “Change Picture” to update your profile.
If you don’t like these stock photos, there is a way to use any image on your hard drive instead. Return to the window where you made the previous change and click on “Browse for More Pictures.” Use this window to find any image on your computer that you would like to use as your own personal logo. Select this file and click “Ok.” Your profile is now updated with the custom picture.
A good way to find avatar that will look good on your profile is to find those that are sized to be AOL Instant Messenger icons. They are sized perfectly for this use, and will not need to be stretched or squished to fit in the image box.
