Ever wondered how to get your videos to work on your Ipod? Or maybe you have videos of the family vacation that you want to send to friends but your video camera saves in a weird or unplayable format which makes playing them a hassle. Sometimes a friend or co-worker needs a file in a certain format.
For any of these reasons, Video encoding is the answer, and Be Your Own IT walks you through a simple encode to give you a feel for it.
HandBrake is free software that allows for users to encode a video in any format you would like. All you need to do is first go to www.HandBrake.fr and install the software.
Once HandBrake is installed to your computer, run it and open up the desired file you would like to encode and give it a destination file.
On the right, you will find all sorts of options for different formats you may want. Once you have done this, click Start on the top of the menu, and you will see Handbrake start to encode your video.
Depending on the speed of your computer will determine how long the encoding process will take. If you are going to encode multiple videos, you can add to queue and let it encode overnight.
