Very Helpful Pop Up Blocker and Web Tool
Welcome back to BeYourOwnIT.com’s free tech support and video series, where we talk about pretty much everything computer‑related. We address troubleshooting issues. We even take requests at support@BeYourOwnIT.com. Today’s topic is free software. We have a bunch of free software to talk about, but I’m going to break it up into separate videos. The first one I want to talk about is the Google Toolbar. Now normally, I would never ever recommend any toolbars whatsoever, but the Google Toolbar is actually quite useful, and I use it all the time. To get it, the easiest way is just to shoot over to my website, BeYourOwnIT.com. And then, scroll down to…I thought I put a link on here. There it is.
The Google Pack which is actually multiple software that’s provided to you from Google, and they’re all free. If you click on the Google Pack right here, that’ll take you right to a download screen, where you can download a ton of different stuff; it’ll list everything.
As you can see, I already have it installed: Google Toolbar and Picasa, Spyware Doctor. All of these are all free. Free is good. And Google always does a great job with all their software, so you have nothing to fear by using their free software.
But as you can see, I’ve already downloaded it and installed it. However, if I did not, you need only check it up here, and then, hit “Install Software.” And this is it right here. Now it’s a pretty useful tool; I use it quite a bit. It’s a pop‑up blocker, although we all know that most Internet browsers nowadays block pop‑ups.
But it integrates a lot with the Google accessories that they offer like the Google Bookmarks, which is pretty awesome. It allows you to take your bookmarks basically to any computer you go to.
So let’s say you’re at work and at home, and you want to have the same bookmarks at both locations, use the Google Bookmarks feature. And if you haven’t set it up, it’ll allow you to sign in, right here, to access your Google Bookmarks. And then, you basically just set up your bookmarks with Google, and you can take it anywhere you want to go.
It has the feature where you can add different buttons. Or you can add a blog link and stock link, whatever you want; links to Google Finance,; all sorts of stuff that’s really useful. It has “Rolling Stone Magazine.”
And the beauty is you can edit this. You can search for news articles, check your spelling. And the nice thing is, like I said, you can change how things work here. You can send things right to Gmail, which is awesome if you have a Gmail account.
No matter where you are on the Web, with Internet Explorer, you can always Google something, which is one of the best features for it. Firefox already has this feature built in, but Internet Explorer does not. The nice thing is if I wanted to Google “‘Pizza Hut in Milwaukee,” I can Google from anywhere at anytime.
So that’s really what makes the Google Toolbar worth it. I wouldn’t recommend using any other toolbars, that’s for sure. But Google Toolbar is super‑useful, and you can just get it right off our website. And see what you think; mess around with it. They’re always making it better. So it’s a great tool. And make sure to subscribe to our YouTube videos, and feel free to message us with any questions at all. Thank you.
